SSRD sent a bundle of Ref’s, NSO’s and merchandise queens over to Adelaide to partake, and we are only just now seeing them come back down to earth

here’s an account from Lady Malice:
Saturday was sooooo long and busy. Between the 5 of us Ref’s/NSO’s we worked, I think it was, 15 games just on Saturday with a few of us literally running between the 2 pavilions to get to our games on time. Teams were totally thrashing other teams with score differences of up to 200 points. Some of the teams playing the tournament had never bouted before including Townsille and WIRD.

The level of gameplay shown by Townsville and WIRD would be pretty similar to that of SSRD. Yep, I’m thinking travel teams next year

Pirate City quickly became the favourites and the game to watch was VRDL v’s PC. Skate The Muse is an amazing skater, their Captain tells me that usually STM only blocks and never jams…insane! STM would be on par with Kitty Decap’s level…. Yes, I now have a big ol’ derby crush and was so chuffed to meet Terror Satana #666 in the toilets at the afterparty.

Sunday turned out to be not quite as long and the standard of gameplay was pretty high. Also, the challenge team bouts were held on Sunday. The Moustaschio Nuts v’s Ref Bangers had quiet a crowd. Prior to the finals being held the feature bout was Baby Dolls v’s Battleaxes. The crowd loved it and the skaters had a ball.

It was such a buzz to spend 2 days totally immersed in derby land, catching up with friends I haven’t seen for so long, all the tears and hugs shared, and buying buttloads of merch. The afterparty was a huge amount of fun with everyone getting in on the dancing.

We sold a lot of merchandise, which was particularly impressive seeings we were not a bouting League! but then again, who could resist stuff as cool as this??
